Es un temazo apocalíptico, por bueno y porque la letra original trata de eso, más o menos. Y acabamos de conocer que acaba de ser versionada como contribución al día mundial de la acción climática (el próximo sábado, 24 de octubre). Estamos hablando de la canción Eve of Destruction, de Barry McGuire, cuya letra ha sido transformada para convertirla en canto de alerta contra el cambio climático por Ken Ward.

No sé si nuestros compañeros en Topmusicablog se harán eco de esta nueva versión. Lo cierto es que el videoclip, que podréis ver tras el salto, podría estar un poco más trabajado. Pero lo que nos interesa a nosotros, ecologistas no atentos a la superficialidad, es la letra, que nos pone al día sobre el cambio climático: los casquetes polares se funden, dudas sobre la viabilidad del cap-and-trade, bombillas de bajo consumo, necesidad de hacer lobby…

Tras repasarlo todo, “don’t tell me / over and over and over again my friends / you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction” (no me digan / una y otra vez amigos míos / que no creen que estamos al borde de la destrucción).
